David Duggan Minister of Music

David came to First Baptist Lakeside in November of 2015 after serving in Tennessee for seven years. David is a native Texan. Born in Fort Worth, while his father was earning his Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, thus making him a bona fide and official P.K. (Preacher’s Kid).
In March of 1988, he surrendered his life to become a follower of Jesus Christ and in June of 1996, while on a summer mission trip, he accepted the Lord’s call into full-time ministry. David is a graduate of the University of Tennessee (B.S. Instrumental Education, 2001) and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. Worship Studies, 2010). He has studied voice, trumpet, and guitar privately. He has also studied theology and worship at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 2004-2007, where he met his wife, Karen. David and Karen have three sons: Andrew (6), Luke (3), and Philip (1). Karen is a stay-at-home mom and currently serves as Director of the Women’s Ministry at First Baptist Lakeside while also continuing her theological education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is a graduate of Carson-Newman University (B.S. Family & Consumer Science Education) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A.C.E. Women’s Ministry). She grew up in San Antonio where her father was stationed with the Air Force. The Duggans love spending time together visiting new places and are always looking for the next great adventure.
